Committee Meeting Minutes
June 3, 2008 5:30 pm Conference Room, Municipal Building

Attendees: Doug Lohmeier, Stiney Vonderhaar, Carolyn Smiley-Robertson, James Jeffers, Dave Nichols, Chief Cruse, Jim Cole, Peggy Paff, Ken Valentine

I.      Gorman Heritage Farm
1)      Cleaning Service Update
i.      Hired a private firm after Mayor advised Peggy the Village would no longer provide that service
2)      Finance
i.      Reviewed financial statement
3)      Perimeter Fencing
i.      Farm will need to apply for variance for style
4) Humana Corporate Picnic will be held at the farm this is a trial event to test the capabilities of the farm to handle such a large crowd (approx. 2000)

II.      Engineering
1)      Carpenter’s Creek Access Drive- Chris Patterson and Ken Valentine
i. Committee reviewed Gateclub entrance proposal directed Mr. Valentine to seek approval from the City of Blue Ash before returning so the Village staff understands what is approved by Blue Ash.

2)      Rec Roof/HVAC systems
i.      James explained the roof over the addition needs replacing and has been budgeted. However, the HVAC systems are near needing replaced and suggested we replace those first before the roof as not to damage a new roof when replacing the HVAC systems. Committee directed him to get a better estimate to do both in the same year.

III.    Recreation
1)      Advised of a part-time hiring ordinance on agenda
2)      Playground equipment is almost complete weather has been a factor in getting it installed.

IV.     Service
a.      Planters on Reading Road are set and will be planted this month
b.      Bill Mechley is requesting permission to install a sample of the proposed street light on Otterbein Road.
V.      Fire
1)      Firefighter/paramedic hiring process    
a.      Hiring committee met on May 22 interviewing 12 candidates selecting three for hire and recommended to keep the balance on an eligibility list for two years. They felt they had a very good slate of candidates.

Other items:    
TV/Cable Ordinance committee supports the ordinance presented by the solicitor
